Personal impressions....

The "Experiment with Light" Group meets once a month for about an hour in the library of the Meeting House,
there are usually about 6 people present. We follow a guided meditation for about 40 minutes and
then have about 10 minutes to review what we have experienced. We can write, draw or summarise
in words what we have experienced. Then we can choose whether we share this with the rest of the
group, there is no pressure to share, and what we share is kept confidential within the group. We do
not offer any comments in the feedback.

"I started attending the Light Group in December 2016. I have found It to be a rich and
rewarding experience and always come away with a feeling of peace. I realise I cannot always solve
problems but I can bring them into the Light.
I sometimes use this thought : I am being still now, and I am bringing these situations into
the light, and love seeps through. I listen to the phrase, ‘ever enduring love’ and try to do it."

"The Light Group offers a time of quiet meditation and reflection in a supportive atmosphere. It's interesting how the stillness created enables helpful insights to float into consciousness."

"For me the EwL meditation complements Meeting for Worship.  It's a time when I can fully focus on myself (if that's what I choose to do) and explore my life.  I am often able to find answers to dilemmas without the usual interfering voice of my ego distorting my thoughts. It can be challenging, enlightening or simply peaceful but I always feel better in tune with myself after the meditation."

"I find the recorded guiding words to be just enough to trigger useful thoughts, without being intrusive or distracting.  For me, the whole process is more about contemplation than meditation, but there is a real overlap as I drift peacefully between the two.  Sometimes the outcome is that I have just spent a pleasant time with people of like values, sharing a delightful space.  Other times, I come away with some really useful, helpful new perspectives about myself, my life, my relationships, whatever came up. Nothing trivial, nothing challenging, as if some gentle guide had been invited to come my way, and had left a calling card."
